After early breakfast at Lake Nakuru Lodge, enjoy a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its millions of seasonal pink flamingos and diverse aquatic birdlife. During the drive, spot rhinos, zebras, gazelles, buffalo, leopards, and waterbucks—Lake Nakuru is particularly known for its healthy rhino population. Take in stunning views from the hills above the lake, and keep an eye out for the rock hyrax, a tiny relative of the elephant.

Stop for lunch in Nakuru town before continuing your journey toward Eldoret, Kenya’s fourth-largest city. Proceed to the Ugandan border, where crossing can take some time but provides an interesting cultural experience. Continue to Mbale, Uganda, arriving for dinner and overnight stay at Mbale Resort.

After breakfast at Mbale Resort, continue your Gorillas & Masai Mara Overland Safari towards Eastern Uganda, with a stop at the Equator. Here, you can stand in both hemispheres, take photos, and browse for local souvenirs. Continue to Jinja, arriving in the evening.

In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic boat ride on the Victoria Nile, reaching the Source of the Nile, where the river begins its journey from Lake Victoria. Return to Jinja Nile Resort for dinner and overnight stay.

Begin the day early at 6:30 a.m. for a full-day chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale Forest National Park. Track these incredible primates from nest to nest, observing their natural behaviors up close. While trekking, you may also spot other primates, including Red Colobus, Black-and-White Colobus, Grey-cheeked Mangabey, Olive Baboon, Red-tailed Monkey, and L’Hoest’s Monkey, as well as a variety of bird species.

For an optional experience, participate in the chimpanzee habituation program, spending the entire day with the chimpanzees and starting early to join the morning briefing before the Great Apes leave their nests.

Stop for lunch en route in Kasese, and make a brief stop at the Equator before entering Queen Elizabeth National Park. Arrive at your lodge on the edge of the park for dinner and overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge.

After early breakfast at Mweya Safari Lodge, start your day with a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, spotting a variety of wildlife including elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, hyenas, and other resident savannah species. The park is also known for its diverse birdlife, including flamingos in the salt lakes and numerous wetland birds.

In the afternoon, enjoy a 3-hour boat cruise on the famous Kazinga Channel, a 36 km waterway linking Lake George and Lake Edward. Observe hippos in the water, Nile crocodiles along the banks, warthogs, and African elephants enjoying the river. Use binoculars for birdwatching and capturing the rich aquatic and terrestrial wildlife along the channel.

After early breakfast, depart Kabale and drive along the adventurous route to Ishasha, located in the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the way, keep an eye out for monkeys and baboons in the trees.

Upon reaching Ishasha, enjoy a game drive through the vast savannah, spotting topis, elephants, and with luck, tree-climbing lions resting in the fig trees. After the drive, continue your journey to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to the endangered mountain gorillas.

This scenic drive transitions from savannah landscapes to local villages and cultivated hills, finally ascending into the forest-covered mountains of Bwindi, setting the stage for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Bwindi Lodge.

After breakfast at Bwindi Lodge, depart around 7:45 a.m. with a packed lunch and drinking water for the gorilla trekking briefing at the park’s starting point. Learn the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas before entering the forest.

Embark on the gorilla tracking adventure, following these magnificent primates through the dense Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The trek can last a few hours up to a full day, depending on the gorillas’ location. Once found, spend an unforgettable hour observing and photographing the gorillas in their natural habitat.

The forest is also home to birds, butterflies, forest elephants, forest hogs, sitatungas, and dik-diks, making the trek a truly immersive wildlife experience. Return to Bwindi Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
