Experience the best of East Africa in 20 days: Nairobi, Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, and cultural villages, ending with Zanzibar’s beaches and historic Stone Town. Daily game drives, cultural visits, and beach relaxation make this a once-in-a-lifetime journey.
Upon arrival at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by an Exciting Africa Holidays representative and transferred to your hotel. In the evening, meet your fellow travelers for an orientation meeting to review the upcoming safari itinerary and get acquainted.
Overnight: La Maison Royale
Start your day with a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum, the historic home of the famed author from 1914 to 1931, where the legacy of Denys Finch-Hatton is still on display.
Afterwards, drive to Sweetwaters Wildlife Sanctuary, one of only four private game conservancies in Kenya. Enjoy a thrilling introduction to its abundant wildlife, including the Big Five, giraffes, rare Grevy’s zebras, eland, oryx, waterbuck, Grant’s and Thompson’s gazelles, cheetahs, silver-backed jackals, hartebeest, baboons, and hundreds of bird species.
Overnight: Sweetwaters Tented Camp
Begin the day with a morning game drive through Sweetwaters Wildlife Sanctuary, spotting a variety of wildlife in their natural habitat. Afterwards, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, a scenic Rift Valley soda lake situated at 1,754 meters above sea level and protected for its remarkable wildlife.
Arrive in time for lunch, then enjoy an afternoon game drive around the park, famous for its vast flamingo populations, pelicans, rhinos, giraffes, and diverse birdlife.
Overnight: Lake Nakuru Lodge
Start the day with an early morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, spotting rhinos, giraffes, flamingos, and other wildlife. Afterwards, depart for Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake in Nakuru County and part of the scenic Great Rift Valley.
Enjoy a picnic lunch upon arrival, followed by a boat cruise on the lake to observe hippos, a variety of bird species - over 400 in total - and the tranquil lake scenery.

After breakfast, depart Lake Naivasha and travel through Kenya’s fertile highlands, descending the Rift Escarpment toward the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve.
Arrive in time to begin game drives en route to your camp, exploring the Mara’s abundant wildlife, including the Big Five. If visiting between June and October, witness the spectacular wildebeest migration as millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles arrive from the Serengeti plains.

Spend the day on full-day game drives, exploring this iconic landscape and its incredible wildlife. During the hotter parts of the day, you can relax at the lodge, take a swim, or watch hippos along the river. If visiting during the migration season, witness the breathtaking passage of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles across the plains.
Optional Activity: Early morning balloon flight over the Mara for a unique perspective of the savannah and wildlife.
Overnight: Masai Mara Sopa Lodge
After breakfast, depart the Masai Mara and drive to the Kenya-Tanzania border at Isebania. Complete border formalities and continue into Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s iconic wildlife destination, renowned for its vast plains and abundant wildlife.

After a relaxed breakfast, set out for wildlife viewing in the Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous parks in the world. Enjoy a morning game drive across the vast, primeval plains, home to abundant wildlife including lions, elephants, giraffes, and zebras.
After a brief rest and lunch, continue with an afternoon game drive, exploring the gently undulating hills of Lobo up to the Kenyan border. Experience the Serengeti’s iconic landscapes, kopjes, and shady arbors, and, if visiting during migration season, witness the awe-inspiring wildebeest migration.
Overnight: Seronera Wildlife Lodge
After breakfast, depart the Serengeti National Park for Ngorongoro Crater, enjoying a scenic game drive along the way. Stop at the Olduvai Gorge viewpoint, a 300-foot-deep river canyon famous for the 1959 discovery of early human fossils by the Leakey family. Visit the small but informative Olduvai Gorge Museum and enjoy a picnic lunch, during which museum staff may share insights about the valley’s archaeological significance.
Continue the drive to Ngorongoro, taking in spectacular views of the Serengeti plains and the crater rim en route.

Start the day with a descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most iconic landscapes, approximately 12 miles wide and home to an incredible variety of wildlife. Explore the crater floor up close, spotting lions, elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests, Thomson’s gazelles, zebras, reedbucks, rhinos, baboons, hippos, hyenas, jackals, and thousands of flamingos in Lake Magadi.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater, then continue the journey to Lake Eyasi, arriving in time for dinner.
Overnight: Lake Eyasi Tented Camp
Begin the day early with a visit to Lake Eyasi to meet the Hadzabe hunter-gatherers, one of the last authentic hunter-gatherer communities in Africa. Related to the San and Kung Bushmen of the Kalahari, the Hadzabe offer a unique glimpse into traditional ways of life, including hunting, gathering, and survival skills.
In the late afternoon, enjoy some leisure time before dinner.
Overnight: Mutu wa Mbu Hotel
Today, visit a village in Mto Wa Mbu, home to a diverse mix of over 120 tribes, for an immersive cultural experience. Enjoy lunch with the locals, and even participate in its preparation. Discover locally grown foods, including 30 varieties of bananas, and learn about traditional banana beer making.
Explore local crafts, visit farms to see innovative irrigation methods, and stop by the village school. Interact with the villagers, trade stories, and gain insight into the daily life of this vibrant community.
Overnight: Rift Valley Ridge Lodge
Enjoy a relaxed morning at leisure before departing for Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds and baobab-studded landscapes. Upon arrival, check in to your comfortable tented camp in a secluded area of the park and enjoy a guided walk to explore the surroundings.

Spend the day on a full-day game drive in Tarangire National Park, renowned for its large elephant herds and rich biodiversity. Spot elephants, lions, cheetahs, buffaloes, and a wide variety of bird species. Tarangire is particularly famous for its massive elephant herds, often seen traveling together across the park.
Return to your camp in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, drive to Arusha, arriving in time for lunch. Afterwards, transfer to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar.
Upon arrival at Stone Town Airport, you will be driven to the north coast of Zanzibar, Nungwi, to relax and enjoy the sunset over the Indian Ocean.

Spend the day relaxing on the pristine beaches of Nungwi, on Zanzibar’s northern coast. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling, diving, or simply unwinding by the Indian Ocean. Take in the stunning sunsets and the laid-back island atmosphere, with time to rejuvenate after your safari adventure.

Spend the day relaxing on the pristine beaches, swimming in the turquoise waters, or exploring the coastal village. Enjoy the stunning sunset over the Indian Ocean.
